for brothers who are students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM), and Healthcare
Robert A. Patterson, Kappa Sigma 185, was a long-time leader of the Fraternity through his involvement with the University of Iowa alumni. His work in the field of engineering was outstanding, and fueled a passion for the advancement of the sciences and human achievement. Brother Patterson passed away in 2016.
In February 2017, the Hawkeye Association officers established this Robert A. Patterson Scholarship as a memorial to Brother Patterson for his dedication and commitment to the Xi Chapter and Association at the University of Iowa. His work in the field of engineering was outstanding, and fueled a passion for the advancement of the sciences and human achievement. This fund is maintained by the Theta Xi Foundation and is made possible by the donation of the Hawkeye Association.
The Patterson Scholarship serves to assist with the rising expense of higher education for those members who major in science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), or health care field of study. The scholarship also promotes and recognizes leadership and participation in Theta Xi Fraternity. The Scholarship is awarded on an annual basis, and may be renewed for a second year.
